Top 7 Things That Have Changed My Life

Eric D. Greene - 1 Awesome Dad

Eric D. Greene

Other than becoming a dad, here is a short list of things that have changed my life for the better. Counting backwards in terms of priority.

#7 The decision to change

It all started with a decision. A realization that I wasn’t happy, that I didn’t like how things were going in my life, that I needed to make changes, and the decision and the commitment to change.

#6 Quit drinking

I just don’t need alcohol in my life.

#5 Getting rid of the TV

Selling the TV just after my son was born was truly life changing.

There is a direct correlation between not having a TV and seeing things more clearly in the world.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again and again. The TV is pure junk for the mind, and the problem isn’t the medium in and of itself, the problem is those who have traditionally always been in control over network “programming” (isn’t it ironic they call it that?).

#4 Therapy and life coaching

I truly needed this for so long, and if I have any regret it’s that I did not start sooner in life. Better late than never.

It’s all about undoing the social and cultural programming, healing from childhood wounds and trauma, and learning to see myself as worthy and deserving of all the best in life.

I have to give a big shout-out to the absolutely amazing Kerri Viekko at Meet Yourself Spiritual Life Coaching. Kerri has an office in the Folsom California area, and she works over Skype too. Look her up, seriously she is the best.

#3 Meditation

Meditation is something I barely got into until just this last year (2017), while taking Dr. Shefali Tsabary’s course The Year of the Awakened Heart.

I struggle with it because it is hard to be still and quiet the mind, with so much stress and chaos of modern daily life. but I am finally starting to see/feel some benefits, and I am working on making this a daily practice.

#2 Journaling

Writing and journaling is another daily practice I only recently got into, maybe since March of 2017. But already the effects are profound.

Journaling slows down the mind and gives you a laser-like focus on whatever it is you’re choosing to write about.

I have to say, going vegan is definitely #1 but journaling is a really close #2. It’s that powerful, at least for me.

#1 Going Vegan

I went 100% vegan on Jan 1, 2016. Absolutely life changing for me.

I had been vegetarian for awhile before that, but it’s so true that not consuming the lactation and pus from a miserable and suffering mama cow does WONDERS for the body, mind and spirit.

As far as meat, I don’t miss it. I don’t have any desire for it. I look back and wonder why I ever consumed it. Anyway I’m done with it.

A whole foods, plant-based vegan and mostly raw lifestyle is where it’s at. I feel amazing, I feel full of life and energy, especially when I eat as much raw fruits and veggies as I can.

And there you have it. The top 7 things that have been life changing for me.
